The Campsite

The 2023 season starts on the 1st of August

A small campsite in the lush farmland area of North Devon. Our gently sloping three-acre field offers a small number of pitches meaning you have ample room to enjoy the open-air whilst remaining safely distanced from other campers. Our field is for tents only, with no vehicles access to the camping ground, to allow a peaceful and calm experience.

The campsite field is sheltered, but the farm is easy to find with shops, pubs, and restaurants only 10 minutes away in the vibrant market town of Great Torrington.

You won’t be short of activities with the fantastic surf of the North Devon coastline 20 minutes away, walking on the Tarka Trail less than 5 minutes’ drive, and the majestic tors of Dartmoor and Exmoor just over half an hour's drive away!

Our on-site coffee shop can provide you with hot and cold drinks and snacks

Frequently asked questions
  • When do you open?

    1st of August 2023

As a pop-up campsite, we can only open for 28 days of the year; therefore our campsite is open until the 28th August 2023!

  • What should I do when I arrive?

Please sign in at Wonders Corner Coffee before continuing down the track to the campsite.

  • Can I have a campfire or BBQ?

Due to the site's close proximity to woodland, only raised BBQs or firepits are permitted. We have these available to rent with wood or charcoal on site! :)

  • Are there toilets and showers on-site?

Yes! We have toilets and hot showers

The showers do not have a timer.

  • Do your pitches have electrical points?

Our pitches do not have electric points. There are two electrical points with charging points in the shower area.

  • Are there set arrival and departure times?

Arrival at our site is between 3pm and 9pm to give us time to check your pitch!

Departure is by 2pm so that you can have a nice lunch before we say goodbye!

  • Can I stay with my camper van or motor home?

The camping field has no vehicular access and therefore we only have tent pitches.

  • Can I park my car next to my tent?

The camping field has no vehicular access and therefore cars cannot be parked next to tents. Assistance is avaible for moving belongings to and from your pitch if required, and car parking is provided close to the camping field!

Wonders Corner Coffee

Coffee is on the site at our converted horsebox café! We sell hot and cold drinks, as well as snacks and facemasks! It's also the location where our lovely campers and their visitors sign in!
That's not to say that you have to be staying with us to get a cup, we do takeaway!
We bought the horsebox in July 2019 and after a years work on restoring it - we were ready for customers! We hope that you love it as much as we do!

A few local activities

180 miles of easy excercise!

The renowned 180 mile Tarka trail, perfect for your easy family walk is less than a 5-minute drive away from our site. Along this paved walkway, are many cafes, lovely views, and natural landscapes such as rivers and streams, providing plenty of entertainment for dogs and kids of all ages!! It is perfect for cycling and cycle hire is available in the local market town of Great Torrington.

The all-rounder beach!

Westward Ho! is a seaside village around 20 minutes from our site. The village boasts great restaurants, an arcade, a sea pool, and a surf school. The beach, which joins with Northam Burrows is an excellent surf sport, with its 2.5km expanse of the perfect sand-castle sand backed by a pebble ridge, supported by lifeguards in the summer months. Northam Burrows is also dog-friendly!

A calmer day out!

RHS Garden Rosemoor is a public display garden run by the royal horticultural society. Less than 15 minutes from our site, the 65 acres planted garden is surrounded by over 100 acres of woodland and features paths, cafes, and sculptures.

Perfect for your promenade!

Instow is a very pretty, sandy beach just over 20 minutes from the site. It features a long beach overlooking the village of Appledore and is also a stop along the Tarka Trail. This is our dog's favourite walking spot and regularly has other woofs playing together on the sand. Along the promenade are bars and restaurants where you can sit to watch the sunset.

2022 has been a challenging year for us

2022 has been a mix of emotions for us.

It was great for our property; progressing on developments for the annexe allowed Simon's mother and the girls' grandmother, Merial to move into our home; we were given a grant to plant trees in our fields; and the solar panels and air source heat pump ensured our house was good for the environment.

Sadly, the second half of 2022 was awful for our family.

Cotton, our farm cat who has been spotted by our campers in the past, died in early October.

Grandma Merial passed on the 10th of December in her annexe.

We miss them both terribly and hope that they may rest in peace.
